Gunnar Swanson is a graphic designer, media designer, writer, and educator. His graphic design has won over a hundred awards and publications for trademark, publication, type, packaging, and graphic design from the AIGA, Print, Graphis, How, the American Corporate Identity series, and other graphic design organizations, books, and magazines.
His articles on graphic design subjects have been published by How, Design Issues, the AIGA Journal of Graphic Design, Virginia Commonwealth University, and others. His writing is included in three major graphic design anthologies, translated into Spanish, and published internationally. He is the editor and designer of the Allworth Press book Graphic Design & Reading.
In addition to his more than two decades as a designer, he has taught at the Otis College of Art and Design and the University of California Davis, headed the graphic design program at the University of Minnesota Duluth, and directed the multimedia program at California Lutheran University.
Gunnar Swanson lives in Greenville, NC, just south of the Great Dismal Swamp.
